Today is a big one. On July 4th, 2026, the United States of America turns 250 years old.
Two and a half centuries ago, in 1776, a group of people signed their names to a single, audacious idea: that ordinary people could govern themselves. They called it the Declaration of Independence. We call it the start of something remarkable.
A quarter-millennium in the making
Two hundred and fifty years is hard to picture. It's ten generations. It's the distance from candlelight to spaceflight, from handwritten letters to the device in your pocket. A country that began with thirteen colonies and a bold piece of parchment grew into something its founders could never have imagined.
And yet the core idea never changed: that you're free to dream, to build, and to make your own way.
The spirit of the Fourth
Independence Day has always been about more than fireworks and cookouts — though we love those too. At its heart, it celebrates a certain kind of optimism: the belief that with a little freedom and a lot of grit, you can build something that lasts.
That spirit shows up everywhere. In the founders who risked everything. In the inventors and tinkerers who kept reinventing what was possible. And in every small business owner who wakes up and bets on their own idea — which, if you're reading this, might just be you.
From our shop to yours
At Tysoft, we're a small American business that gets to spend our days helping other people turn their ideas into real, working software. We don't take that for granted. The freedom to start something from nothing and see it through is the whole American story in miniature — and it's the part we're most grateful for.
So today, we're stepping back from the keyboard for a bit. We're going to grill something, watch the sky light up, and raise a glass to 250 years.
Happy Birthday, America. Here's to the next 250.
